Congratulations to TPM members, F.H. Stoltze Land & Lumber Company and Marks-Miller Post and Pole, Inc., who have been awarded grants as part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes have also secured part of the grant.
The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act was passed in November 2021. The funding awarded this year comes from $200 million allocated in the Act to remove flammable vegetation for the creation of biochar or innovative wood products over a five-year span, according to Tester’s office.
Stoltze-owned Wooden Haus is receiving $1 million via the U.S. Forest Service. The two other recipients each earned a portion of the remaining $600,000. The grants are paid for without increasing taxes, according to Montana Senator Jon Tester.
